I am a jeweller and taught at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee part time until 1998, when I became a research fellow at Edinburgh College of Art. My jewellery has always been at the leading edge of developments, both materials (titanium, niobium, aluminium, precious metal clays, silk and felt...), tools and processes (RT Blanking, computer aided design, laser cutting, 3D printing, haptics!...). In 2007 I spun out a company, Anarkik3d, from our research which investigated virtual touch (haptics) as a better interface for 3D modelling for applied artists than that of CAD packages. My 2 major milestones this year are: releasing Cloud9 V2.1 earlier this year with sales gathering pace, and the 3D printed titanium wedding ring I designed, using Cloud9, and had made for my daughter by i.materialise. Her ring could be a world first and there are pics of it on my blog http://annmarieshillito.wordpress.com/
