PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The professional development workshops will run for 6 months of the 9 month programme and works with expert trainers to deliver exciting and meaningful workshops. The workshops are designed to help you think about your practice and how to put that in to industry. Having a degree in jewellery herself, Kate, Director of Vanilla Ink, fully understands the difficulties of making the leap from making jewellery to becoming a jeweller. The 'Meet the Maker' events are designed to offer honest insights into the making practice from experienced makers and designers.

Each session lasts a full day (10am - 6pm) with you being expected to fully commit to each one. The sessions will cover:

  • Pre Programme - January
  • Getting the most out of VI
  • How to be a mentee
  • Team Building Session

The programme will then run from February through to October 2018

  • Future Planning - February
  • Business Resilience - March
  • Branding You - April
  • Know Your Audience - May
  • Money Matters - June
  • Presenting You - July
  • Reflection - August - October
  • End of Programme show - October/November

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

As of 2016, Vanilla Ink added Skills Development workshops to the package. As each Goldsmith is unique, the skills package can only be determined by you. You get to tailor the programme to suit your needs and development, working closely with Head Goldsmith and Director of the Vanilla Ink Jewellery School, Scott McIntyre

This may include:

  • Enamelling
  • Engraving
  • Stone Setting
  • CAD/CAM
  • Wax carving
  • Finishing and polishing

You will play a part in requesting the type of learning you will benefit from to advance both your practice and confidence. This could be a completely new technique or an advancement of a current skill.
